ROW 5 RUNNIN SHIRT

EmoticonIt has been raining shirts for the Bicolano Penguin this summer hot month of April.

First came the special BP shirt from Batu. Then the Pinoy Fitness Flagship Tee. Now comes the 1st edition of the Row 5 shirt, a collaboration by BP as the concept creator, Joji Ushijima as the design artist and Norman Baturiano as the procurer printer.

A bit of explication on the moniker. Imagine a classroom setting where  the teacher’s pets seat on the front chairs (Row 1)   while the teacher’s pests reside on Row 5, typically the last row of desks. Transport this concept to the  running scene and one conjures that Row 5 runners are the slow, sometimes waddling, runners. The back of the packers. For added effect, the “g” was deleted as teacher’s pests are not expected to be good spellers. Spelling bees we are not but we are hard workers of a different elk.

Contributing to the task of putting into fruition this concept was multi-media artist Joji who speedily came up with the blueprint. Artists work that way. It was up to Batu of NEKAJ Prints to purchase the dri-fit shirts and put ink into textile.

Voila! The final product in gray shirts, light blue shirts and the solitary  red shirt.

The penguins love the colors.
Leading off to be distributed are the gray shirts which are programmed for the Lake Bato Ultra runners, some nephews and nieces,  and other classmates (targeted for recruitment into the crazy world of  running) in   the Ateneo de Naga HS Batch 1983. Already a handful have been in action. Why gray?  Per a color psychology website, people who like this color tend to be “... a hard worker who just gets on with the job that has to be done – you tend to be committed and loyal to your work whatever it may be.” (http://www.empower-yourself-with-color-psychology.com/personality-color-gray.htmlThe Lake Batu ultra runners are expected to be lone wolfish-dedicated to the task of finishing any  long distance running adventure come what may.

No chairs for Row 5 habitues
The light blue shirts are destined for America with a couple of my cousins. The lone red is for a Gabriela of a blogger.

A few more colors may come and a few  more regions maybe visited by Row 5 Runnin. Love to see interests from kindred “pests.”Emoticon
